The Beta edition of the new OS X has been released. Yosemite Beta 1 is available for one million of users who registered their names in order to test the forthcoming Apple Operating System. I was one of that one million. My first impression out of Yosemite is that there are a lot of improvements within the look and feel, notwithstanding it looks pretty likely to their predecessors.
Check some snapshots of Yosemite and judge yourself.
The progress bar indicating the load of the OS looks great on black.
The welcome screen looks pretty likely to the iPad with iOS 7. It really likes me.
The new desktop and the nasty and ugly dock came in. Where is the 3D appearance? The icons on the dock look terrible.
Checking the launchpad the screen, it looks great, nonetheless the unpleasant dock is still there.
The information about the system and the computer looks better despite it shows the same and has the same tabs than their predecessors.
The spotlight now appears just above the middle of the screen rather than beneath the magnifying glass of the former OS X.
The new font for the whole system looks quite as well. It is very professional and clear.
The notification center looks pretty much better than in Mavericks.
The finder has new icons for the left side of the window and the blue of the folders are pretty cool, but the maximize button not only maximizes the window, it takes the window to the full screen view and as you can see there is no present the button on the right corner to send the window to the full screen. I prefer having both buttons separated, the maximize button to maximize a window when I want and the full screen button to use it when I need it. I don't think it is a good point of Yosemite have mixed the function of these two buttons.
The launch pad let us see all the applications installed with new icons apiece.
Safari looks exactly like the version for iPad.
Remember the desktop of Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
Despite this instance of the new OSX release was installed in a Virtual Machine, it was straightforward to realize the advantages and drawbacks of the new OS of Apple. Nevertheless, I consider that only for a couple of colours and a for look and feel of iOS it is not necessary to upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite. Let's wait for the official release in the next fall to do the final judge but whether it continues like this beta release, I will wait until de next year to upgrade my OSX from Mavericks.
